“Start where you are. Use  what you have. Do what you can.”

-Arthur Ashe

Principal and Title IX Coordinator, Melissa Metz

Welcome back to another exciting school year! We hope this letter finds you well and rejuvenated after a well-deserved break. As we embark on this new academic journey together, we want to emphasize the importance of engagement - your engagement as parents and our commitment to engaging your child in their learning and development.

At Coppergate School of the Arts, we firmly believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the key to your child's success. We value your involvement and invite you to actively participate in your child's education. Whether it's attending parent-teacher conferences, joining our School Advisory Council, or volunteering in the classroom, your engagement has a profound impact on your child's motivation and achievements.

This year, we are taking deliberate steps to enhance engagement opportunities for both parents and students. We will be organizing informative workshops, parent education sessions, and interactive family events aimed at fostering a sense of community and collaboration. We want to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and understood.

Additionally, we are committed to improving communication channels. Our teachers will be regularly sharing updates on your child's progress, assignments, and upcoming events. We encourage you to stay connected through our school's website, Facebook page, newsletters, and the ParentVUE online portal. By working together, we can ensure that your child receives the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Furthermore, we understand that engagement goes beyond the classroom. We recognize the importance of supporting your child's interests and talents outside of academia. Our school will be offering a variety of extracurricular activities, clubs, and even track and field to cater to diverse passions. We encourage your child to explore these opportunities and discover their hidden talents.

In conclusion, we want to express our enthusiasm for the year ahead and the possibilities it holds. Your active engagement as parents is crucial to creating a positive and enriching educational experience for your child. Let us work hand in hand to nurture their growth, curiosity, and love for learning.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Together, we can make a lasting difference. COLTS, ENGAGE!

Warmest regards,

Melissa Metz, Principal

“I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand.”

Assistant Principal, Candi Sweet

My name is Candi Sweet, and I am excited to partner in leadership with Mrs. Metz, as the Assistant Principal of Coppergate Elementary School, also known as Coppergate School of the Arts.

I come to CGE with years of experience in leadership, and as a classroom teacher. As an Educational leader, I look forward to supporting and working with each CGE student, family, faculty member, and all community stakeholders. I understand the need to work cooperatively to close achievement gaps, increase overall student achievement, all while helping students become productive citizens within our community.

One of the most important aspects of my work as Assistant Principal of Coppergate School of the Arts is building meaningful relationships with CGE students and their families, faculty members, as well as community stakeholders. In addition to building strong relationships, it will be particularly important for me to make sure that you and your student(s) feel safe and respected at CGE.

I believe in the power associated with open communication and a strong home-to-school partnership and I look forward to continuing to learn more about our Colt students, families, and community.

In Partnership,

Candi Sweet
